v0.10.0major update
Fostera v0.10.0 — Private on this device
Choose private conversations on your device, work with clearer chat controls, and take over the live browser on phones and desktops.
New Features
- Private on this device: Choose a private, on-device experience for each Soul from Settings → Privacy & AI, Soul privacy settings, or the model selector.
- Encrypted local conversations: Keep private conversations, drafts, memories, and supported text files in a separate passphrase-encrypted vault in your browser.
- Local memory controls: Review, edit, or forget private memories. Private conversations support text and Markdown attachments up to 1 MiB each, with up to five files per conversation.
- Backup and recovery: Create encrypted backups, restore your vault, change its passphrase, lock it, or separately remove private data and downloaded models.
- A complete Home composer: Start regular and Quick chats from Home with the same composer experience now available in projects.
- Better organization: Create groups, pin items, reorder chats and projects, and move chats between projects belonging to the same Soul.
- Editable Word downloads: Download structured documents created by your Soul as editable Word files.
- More model and voice choices: Added Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5, and Grok listening voices in the Soul editor.
- Saved browser identity: Optionally let each Soul remember browser sign-ins, cookies, and session state, with controls to forget them whenever you choose.
Improvements
- Made privacy status easier to understand with visible mode and lock indicators, local workspace filtering on private pages, and automatic locking when you leave the page, hide the tab, or sign out.
- Prevented local failures from silently moving private work to the cloud. Returning to cloud mode now starts a separate conversation without copying private content.
- Refined the Home and Work sidebar with remembered sections, recent chats, clearer row menus, full-title tooltips, desktop resizing, and mobile drag-and-drop.
- Made release notes easier to browse, with direct version links, reliable scrolling, and layouts for phones and desktops.
- Simplified model selection with clearer reasoning-effort controls and an easy reset action in composer settings.
- Expanded live-browser control on phones and desktops. You can click or tap, type into focused fields, swipe or scroll, use Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, and Backspace, switch page shape, zoom, pan, return control to your Soul, and keep the session open after a reply.
- Added reviewed browser field changes. Your Soul now shows the exact before-and-after values and waits for approval before changing eligible fields on the open page.
- Improved cloud-chat continuity so replies can continue after a temporary disconnect and appear when you return, including in Quick chats.
- Improved chat loading, draft preservation, scrolling, and screen-reader announcements while replies are generated.
- Improved read-aloud playback for long replies and preserved pitch when changing studio-voice speed.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed live-browser controls covering bottom-edge page actions or becoming clipped on short phone screens.
- Fixed Quick chat isolation so temporary conversations do not contribute memories or leak content into other chats.
- Fixed update handoffs and background-reply states that could show misleading progress or interrupt recovery.
- Improved recovery from interrupted replies, document-generation timeouts, and empty provider responses.
- Reduced repetitive reply openings and prevented personal reminiscences from being mistaken for memory-save requests.
- Fixed monthly Resonance usage ordering so available monthly allowance is used before wallet funds.
- Fixed account-switching and local-data cleanup cases that could leave stale state behind.
Limitations
- Private mode requires an internet connection to load the app, download models, and verify your account before each reply.
- Cloud tools, connected apps, cloud voice, and remote imports are unavailable in private mode. Local failures do not silently move private work to the cloud.
- Private data does not sync automatically. Browser data can be cleared, evicted, or lost; keep an encrypted backup. Forgotten vault passphrases cannot be recovered.
- Enabling private mode does not remove earlier cloud conversations or existing backups. Returning to cloud mode starts a separate conversation without copying private content.
- An unlocked vault depends on the security of your browser, extensions, operating system, and device.
- Private conversations support text and Markdown attachments up to 1 MiB each, with up to five files per conversation. Local-model availability and quality vary by device and browser.
- Live-browser features require a configured eligible adult account; existing plan and feature restrictions apply.
