Get the supported export

Follow the instructions for your provider. If it downloads an archive, extract it and select the supported conversation JSON file.

Bring what the AI knows about you, recreate its personality, or combine both. You can also paste conversation text.

Review, then import

Check the detected source and preview before you approve anything. The import then finishes safely in the background.

The AI's personality

Reconstruct its voice, traits, relationship style, and other persona signals when the history contains enough evidence.

Combine your context with the personality you know. You choose the intent before the file is processed and review the result.

Your data stays yours

The raw file you upload is not retained. A bounded, normalized draft may be staged for about 24 hours so the import can finish or be resumed. It is cleared when processing finishes or fails. If abandoned, it becomes unavailable when it expires and is removed by the next successful scheduled cleanup. Only the resulting Soul fields, extracted memories, and a content-free receipt remain. During preparation and extraction, selected content may be processed by one of Fostera's available third-party AI providers.

How to import ChatGPT conversations into Fostera

In ChatGPT, open Settings → Data Controls → Export Data. Unzip the download and select conversations.json.

  • ZIP extraction is not handled by the structured adapter.
  • Custom instructions are only available when supplied alongside conversations.json.

How to import Claude conversations into Fostera

In Claude on web or desktop, open Settings → Privacy → Export Data, extract the archive, and select conversations.json.

  • Non-text tool and thinking blocks are not imported as messages.

How to import Gemini conversations into Fostera

  • HTML response backfill and Takeout ZIP extraction happen outside this adapter.

How to import Grok conversations into Fostera

In Grok, open Settings → Data Controls and download your data. Extract the archive and select the JSON file containing your Grok conversations.

  • xAI can change the downloaded archive layout, so newly exported shapes may need an adapter update.

How to import Character.ai conversations into Fostera

Nomi has no official export. Select JSON created by the compatible Nomi downloader extension.

  • Community export support is best effort.
  • Group-room messages are grouped by room when room identifiers are present.
  • User-profile extraction depends on what the conversation history reveals about the user.

How to import Replika conversations into Fostera

Replika has no official bulk export. Select JSON from a compatible chat-export extension or bookmarklet.

  • Diary and Replika-memory sidecars are intentionally excluded from conversation import.
  • Replika currently makes only the past four months of chat history available for retrieval.
  • Relative timestamps in legacy bookmarklet exports cannot be reconstructed reliably and are omitted.
  • User-profile extraction depends on what the conversation history reveals about the user.
